Wotan

This is Wotan, my pure bred Arabian.  Wotan is my dream horse, even though he no longer lives with me.  He is out on loan to a lovely lady in Dover, who does endurance riding with him, which he thoroughly enjoys, and something that I could not give him.  I have always had a passion for Arabians, people say you either love them or you hate them.  I adore them. Arabs ARE different from most other horses.  They have to be treated right.  You ask them, not tell them, and they will be your friend for ever and look after you.

I bought Wotan as a 2 month old colt, and he came home to me when he was 4 months when he was weaned, way too early in my mind, but he turned out just fine.  I also had another Arab at the time, Henry, who became a surrogate mother to Wotan.

The photo was taken when he was 3 years old at his first show, where he won his class and reserve best in show.  I was very proud of him.  He done a few more shows, then when he was started under saddle, we done a few ridden shows with him, but it was way too boring as far as he was concerned.  Getting out into the countryside, doing different routes, seeing different things, something exciting, that was what he wanted.  So it was that I decided he would enjoy the endurance scene.  He is the only horse I know that when I was out riding him and we got home, he always pulled past the gate wanting to carry on.

So that is the life he enjoys now.  He even gets about 3 holidays a year.  More than I do!!!!!

Lucky boy Wotan.
